About :

  • Shri Dinanath Mangeshkar was a staunch nationalist and was opposed to the continuance of the British rule in India. He showed his love for the independence of his country by popularising plays ‘RanaDundubhi, written by Veer Wamanarao Joshi and SanyastaKhadga, written by Swatantryaveer Savarkar. Some of the patriotic songs penned in those plays sung with a touching fervour by Shri Dinanath invoked the wrath of the British Government.
  • During the period 1935 he produced three films in Marathi. Shri Dinanath Mangeshkar was well-versed not only in Indian classical music, but also in Sanskrit and Astrology. He become famous for his exceptionally sonorous voice.
  • Unfortunately, Shri Dinanath Mangeshkar breathed his last on 24.4.1942 prematurely at the age of 41. He has, however, left behind a legacy of great talent; four daughters including Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle, and one son, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, who are regaling the Indian public by their unforgettable music.
