About : 

• Salvation Army : Social welfare plays an important role in Salvation Army work. Salvationists have provided support for troops in times of war, shelter for the victims of fire, flood or natural disaster, and aid wherever the need may be. The year 1980 marks the centenary of Salvation Army service in Australia.
• Life. Be in it : ‘Life. Be in it’ is a uniquely Australian community welfare concept encouraging active participation in recreational activities. The whimsical Norm and the Life Family have become household figures through the Australian media; demonstrating the joy of living. The ‘Life. Be in it’ campaign has made a major contribution towards enhancing physical well-being in the Australian community.
• Meals on Wheels : The daily visit from ‘Meals on Wheels’ means a warm and nourishing meal for many of Australia‘s aged and infirm citizens. Meals are delivered into the home by a dedicated staff of volunteers. The services are provided under the auspices of local government, charitable or welfare organisations in most Australian cities.
• St. Vincent de Paul Society : St. Vincent de Paul collection centres are familiar to most Australians. The clothing and furniture collected is distributed free to people in need. Any surplus is sold to raise funds for the Society’s numerous aid projects including hostels for the homeless and sheltered workshops for the handicapped.
